Salvation Army’s Harbor Light Complex receives meals provided by “Lola”

Cleveland - The Salvation Army of Greater Cleveland’s Harbor Light Complex has been working tirelessly to keep their residents safe, healthy, and cared for during the COVID-19 pandemic, and have now got a helping hand.

On April 23rd, Beau Hill, Executive Director of The Harbor Light Complex, received a delivery from the staff from Michael Symon's Lola restaurant with donated trays of pasta & salad to be served to the shelter’s residents.

“This is such a generous gift that has lifted the spirits and souls of our residents & staff. Chef Symon is a hometown hero who is very generous to non-profits to throughout Northeast Ohio, including ours,” said Hill.

Michael Symon, acclaimed chef and Food Network star, owns multiple restaurants throughout Greater Cleveland including Lola, Mable’s BBQ, and B Spot.

“We are grateful and excited to do what we can during these trying times. To cook is what we love to do and being able to help feed those in need makes it very special for us,” stated Chef Symon.

Chef Symon plans to continue providing meals to The Harbor Light Complex through June 2020 as part of COVID-19 crisis relief efforts.

The Harbor Light Complex is the largest of seven facilities in The Salvation Army’s Greater Cleveland Area Services. This location offers a variety of services to the most vulnerable members of society, including homeless men, women and children, those facing addictions and individuals in the community corrections program.

“With the ongoing support of everyday champions like Chef Symon, we are able to meet our mission of helping those in need, not only during this time of pandemic, but all year-round.” continued Hill.

The Harbor Light Complex has also recently dealt with an outbreak of Covid-19 cases that effected 11 workers and residents.
