Summer House in Lakewood is providing meals and food resources to service industry folks during this challenging time of need. They are also delivering meals to the elderly and their neighbors in the Carlyle building.
The following statement is from the restaurant’s Instagram account @summerhousecle:
"The amount of support and sense of community shown this week towards our #clefamilymeal initiative has been overwhelming. Thank you to all of the volunteers, vendors, and our incredible kitchen staff for providing these crucial meals to service industry workers during this uncertain time of need.
To all of our brothers and sisters in the Northeast Ohio restaurant scene, we will continue to provide meals and food resources to you starting at 3 pm daily until our ability to do so comes to an end. We've created a clean, sanitized pick up process and are staying within the State of Ohio's guidelines of limiting groups to 10 people or less. Stay tuned to our social media accounts for updates and additional announcements. We know this is a difficult time, but we are ready to get through it together. ❤️ #clevelandstrong"
Summer House had literally just celebrated its grand opening March 9th, but the staff and managers have turned lemons into lemonade by using their resources and talents to help our fellow Clevelanders. Some of their vendors and fellow restaurateurs are joining in this effort including:Sanson Co., Certified Angus Beef, Sysco, Blue Ribbon Meats, Cleveland Kraut, Chefs Garden, Salt Restaurant and Forage Restaurant.
The George Family has been feeding hundreds of people throughout the week including the restaurant staff they were forced to lay off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They are doing everything in their power to provide support during this difficult time.
We ask the public to join our efforts by ordering take out or delivery whenever possible, so that this industry can stay afloat in these trying times.Thank you Cleveland!Together we’ll get through this with your help!
