South Brooklyn House Fire Injures Two

South Brooklyn - A house fire in Cleveland's South Brooklyn neighborhood led to two hospitalizations Friday morning.

Firefighters say a 23-year-old woman and her 4-year-old daughter had to be rescued from a second story porch after the fire rang out at the home off Kenneth Avenue near West 21st Street.

Battalion Chief Rich Bowman telling WTAM 1100 that the mother and daughter were conscious and are being treated for smoke inhalation. He adds all other occupants of the home were able to evacuate safetly.

Bowman says the blaze began in the basement of the home and rose through the first floor, leading to smoke shooting up all the way into the attic.

There is no official cause for the blaze at this time, but there is belief it may be related to an electrical issue.
