Bay Village Police Blotter: Chest-Bumping Gone Wrong

On February 6, 2020 at 5:47pm, Bay Village Police responded to the 30000 block of Lake Road to take a criminal damaging complaint. Officers arrived and spoke with the complainant who reported that he was in the process of a divorce. His soon to be ex-wife had recently arrived at the home and an argument ensued. During the argument, the female kicked the glass storm door breaking the glass paneling before leaving the scene. The homeowner is filing Criminal Damaging charges against the female.

On February 7, 2020 at 11:47pm, Bay Village Police stopped a vehicle on Bassett Road by the railroad tracks for a moving violation. Officers spoke with the female operator, 57 year-old Avon resident, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. The operator failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. On station, the female refused to provide a breath sample to test her blood alcohol content. To make matters worse, the operator was already driving under an OVI suspension. She is facing multiple charges in Rocky River Municipal Court.

On February 8, 2020 at 1:39am, Bay Village Police stopped a vehicle on Lake Road at Porter Creek Road for numerous moving violations. Officers spoke with the male operator, 60 year-old Avon Lake resident, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. The male failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. On station, the male refused to provide a breath sample to test his blood alcohol content. The male is facing charges in Rocky River Municipal Court.

On February 8, 2020 at 8:45am, a male arrived on station to report that he was the victim of an assault. The male explained that he was a contractor working on a home in the 26000 block of Lake Road. The male stated that he was hired to fix drywall in the home by the home-owner. The contractor reported that the home is a rental and that the current tenant did not agree with his work product. A verbal argument turned physical when the renter chest-bumped the contractor and pushed him. The renter denied doing this. Upon investigation, the matter was turned over to the city prosecutor for a ruling on charges.
