Westlake PD arrested 2 persons for prostitution from Westlake hotels in the last week. On 10/25/19 at about 7:30PM investigators located an advertisement on a web service site marketing escorts in the Westlake area.After setting up a meeting with the female, a 30y/o Parma resident was arrested at Sonesta Suites on Clemens.She was charged with possession of heroin for drugs located with her.Charges of solicitation for prostitution will be presented to a grand jury at a later date.On 10/29/19 a male was found advertising on the same web site.Investigation led the officers to the Red Roof Inn on Clemens where a 23y/o Avon resident was taken into custody without incident.The male was charged with solicitation.
On 10/29/19 at approx. 12:30AM an officer stopped a vehicle on Detroit at Settlers Reserve for a license plate violation.The operator was a CCW permit holder but neglected to tell the officer that he was in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun.When the officer discovered same, the driver was arrested for the misdemeanor violation.The 32yo Westlake resident was charged with Improper handling of a firearm and improper display of a license plate.
On 10/29/19 at about 9:15AM officers responded to a report of a residential burglary on Schwartz Rd west of Bradley Rd.There was forced entry to the home which happened when the resident was away.Jewelry was missing from the residence.The homeowner is still compiling a list with values.Investigators are following up with neighbors and evidence collected from the scene.
On 10/31/19 at approx 3:30PM officers responded to a report of a crash at Excalibur and Schwartz Rds.The 1 car involved inexplicably struck the brick faux guard shack at the front of the development.The male driver was found staggering around the crash site yelling on his phone.When the officer began to investigate the crash, the male became belligerent by yelling, swearing at and spitting on the officer.The 31yo Westlake resident was arrested.On station, he refused a breath test.The male was charged with OVI, failure to control and Harassment with a bodily substance, a felony.
On 10/30/19 at about 8PM an officer observed 2 males walking aimlessly around Super 8 Motel.Officers made contact with the males and with others in one of the hotel rooms.Noting that a juvenile with the group had fresh cuts on his head, they questioned him about what happened.Investigation revealed that he had been in an altercation with another male staying in the room.The 4 unrelated occupants of the room said that they were on “vacation” together and had already visited New York and were headed to Los Angeles.They were all from Florida.The 17yo victim was transported to the hospital and was later turned over to Child and Family Services who reunited him back with his parents in Florida.A 31yo Miami, FL resident was arrested and charged with assault.
On 11/1/19 at approx. 9:15AM WPD responded to a drug overdose on Laughlin Ln.Officers arrived to find Westlake Fire/Rescue treating the adult male with narcan.The male was transported to St. John Medical Center.No narcotics were recovered from the home but an investigation was initiated.
