CLEVELAND, OH -- Despite all of the hype surrounding the Cleveland Browns heading into Week One, the Tennessee Titans were the more prepared team on Sunday afternoon. Marcus Mariota tossed three touchdowns, including a 77 yard rollout pass to Derrick Henry. Tennessee Pro Bowl tight end Delanie Walker found the endzone twice as the Titans dominate the hometown Browns by the final score of 43-13.
The Browns got the game started with a touchdown drive as they drove right down the field with ease. This drive marked the first time the Browns have started a season with a touchdown since the 1995 season.
The Cleveland Browns beat themselves up throughout the entire game with constant mental errors, committing 18 penalties for a total of 182 yards. On top of all the penalties, Browns starting left tackle Greg Robinson was ejected from the game after kicking an opponent in the head following a play.
Baker Mayfield threw three interceptions in the final quarter of the game, finishing the game going 25/38 for 285 yards passing, one touchdown and three interceptions. Browns halfback Nick Chubb led the team in rushing with 74 yards on 17 attempts. Dontrell Hilliard had one rushing touchdown on one lone carry before being taken out of the game with concussion symptoms. Star wideout Odell Beckham caught 11 passes for 71 total yards.
The Cleveland Browns will look to bounce back from a week one disappointment as they will head to the Meadowlands to take on the New York Jets on Monday Night Football. The Jets will head into Monday coming off of a 17-16 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Kikoff is set for 8:15 pm ET on Monday, September 16th at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
