Village of Bratenahl- On August 20, 2019, at 2235 hours, the Cleveland Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a single-car crash on Interstate 90 milepost 178 westbound in Cuyahoga County.
The on-scene investigation revealed the crash involved a 2002 Chevrolet S-10 pick-up truck that had been westbound on Interstate 90 when it traveled off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle struck a tree and then overturned, striking another tree. The vehicle came to final rest on its roof.
The driver of the pick-up, Darrin Murphy, age 47, of Cleveland, was killed. The driver was transported to the Cuyahoga County Coroner Office. The investigation revealed Mr. Murphy was not wearing his seat belt in the crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by Bratenahl Police, Cleveland Division of Police, Cleveland Fire Department and the Ohio Department of Transportation. Kufner Towing assisted with the scene and removal of the damaged vehicle. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office also assisted with the investigation at the scene.
Mr. Murphy’s pre-crash condition and the events that led up to the crash remain under investigation.
