Akron - Summit County Prosecutor, Sherri Bevan Walsh, announced that today Judge Kelly McLaughlin sentenced 56-year-old James Ferrell of E. Mildred Avenue in Akron, to LIFE IN PRISON for the rape of a 7-year-old child. He will be eligible for parole after serving ten years.
Prior to sentencing, James Ferrell pled guilty to the following charges:
- Rape – Felony of the 1st degree
- Sexual Imposition – a Felony of 3rd degree
On June 29th, 2018, while the 7-year-old victim was watching TV, she was sexually assaulted by Ferrell. The victim alerted her grandmother who then called police.
During sentencing, Ferrell was classified as a Tier III sex offender and ordered to register every 90 days for the rest of his life should he be released from prison.
