Summer Food Program Back For Kids Through UH Rainbow Babies And Children's

Cleveland - University Hospitals (UH) Rainbow Babies & Children’s is once again participating in the Ohio Department of Education’s USDA Summer Food Service Program. UH Rainbow’s program offers seven UH locations across Northeast Ohio where all children ages 1 – 18 are eligible to receive a complimentary nutritious meal – there is no income qualification. Meals are offered Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and must be eaten on-site (take-out meals are not provided).

·UH Bedford Medical Center (44 Blaine Avenue, Bedford) through Aug. 16th

·UH Cleveland Medical Center (11100 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland) through Aug. 9th

·UH Elyria Medical Center (630 East River Road, Elyria) June 12 – Aug. 23th

·UH Parma Medical Center (7007 Powers Boulevard, Parma) through Aug. 16th

·UH Portage Medical Center (6847 Chestnut Street, Ravenna) through Aug. 16th

·UH Richmond Medical Center (27100 Chardon Road, Richmond Heights) through Aug. 9th

“We began the summer lunch program three years ago, and the response from staff, patients and the community has been tremendous,” said Kathie Wesolowski, Director, Women’s and Children's Community Outreach, UH Rainbow. “We are thrilled to continue the program this year at all seven sites and to expand by adding the weekend meal program as another option for those in need in our community.”

New this year is the weekend meal program being offered at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. Children residing in homes with incomes at or below 200 percent of federal poverty level are eligible to pick up a weekend meal bag each Friday from 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. in the Family Resource Center at UH Rainbow (2101 Adelbert Road, Cleveland). Each bag contains six shelf-stable meals and 2 8 oz. shelf-stable milks. A one-time application is required for participation in the program. The weekend meal program is offered in partnership with the Governor’s office, Ohio Department of Education, Ohio Association of Foodbanks and Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
