The world waited with baited breath as United States Attorney General William Barr took the podium to explain the findings of Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian Interference in the 2016 Presidential Election. Opponents and allies of President Trump were both looking for vindication in their own way.
Democrats were hoping to validate their claims that The President was a willing Russian operative, breaking federal law to help the Russians thwart the 2016 election. Republicans and the White House were looking for absolution. They wanted the rest of the world to know what they knew: That the President did not collude with any foreign power or break any federal law on his journey to the White House.
With both sides so certain about two antithetical ideas, one group was bound to have their legs taken out from under them.
As it turns out, it was a pretty bad day for the Democrats.
