Marshals Searching For Escaped Inmate In Wayne County

Wayne County – Late Friday night inmate Said Ali El-Khatib escaped from transport officials near mile marker 197 in Wayne County.The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) and local law enforcement officers are continuing their search in the immediate and surrounding areas for El-Khatib.

El-Khatib was being transported from New York to Indiana after being arrested for larceny when he escaped from custody.El-Khatib also has local warrant from the Ashland Police Department for the same offense and has been wanted since 2014.El-Khatib should be considered dangerous and has a history with firearms. Members of the public should not approach him but call police.

Police are asking residents to remain vigilant in locking their homes, barns and any out buildings.They should also be locking their cars and keep valuables out of sight in their vehicles.Residents are further urged to call police if they notice anything missing from their homes or barns, such as clothes, boots, or food.
