Adam Plutko to start Cactus League opener, spring camp continues

GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- With only three days until their first Cactus League exhibition game, the Cleveland Indians are making the necessary preparations in order to get ready to play ball. On Wednesday Tribe skipper Terry Francona announced that right-hander Adam Plutko will start Saturday's game against the Cincinnati Reds.

Plutko will likely on go one inning, unless he stays under his pitch count to go into the second frame.

Francona did mention that Mike Clevinger, Corey Kluber and Carlos Carrasco will be held out of Cactus League games until they reach the 50-pitch mark in their bullpen sessions and on back fields in simulated games.

Both Trevor Bauer and Shane Bieber will appear in Cactus League games immediately.

Francona did mention that right-hander Dan Otero has been dealing with a calf injury, but is still expected to pitch on Monday.

First pitch on Saturday between the Tribe and Reds is slated for 3:05 pm ET and can be heard on Newsradio WTAM 1100.
