One Injured After Parma House Fire

Parma - A home fire left one person injured in Parma Thursday evening.

At approximately 7:36 pm, companies from the Parma Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 7100 block of Velma Drive in Parma. The fire had extended into the second floor of the structure prior to the arrival of the first company to arrive.

One patient, the resident, was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center with smoke inhalation injuries. Their condition is not known at this time.

Parma was assisted by several mutual aid companies from surrounding communities. Snow and sub freezing temperatures created hazards for the responding units and hampered extinguishment. Units remain on location for additional extinguishment and overhaul.

No cause is available at this time and the Parma Fire Prevention and Investigation unit is investigating to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
