PARMA, OHIO – On January 1, 2019, at approximately 12:05 AM our officers responded to 7206 Westlake Ave. for a report of a male across the street from this address who was lying unconscious and bleeding from the head.  Officers’ initial investigation revealed that there had been a large fight (approximately 10-12 people) between two groups that did not know one another.

The victim, Christopher Cosme, age 42, was punched in the head by an unknown suspect and fell to the ground striking his head on the concrete.  He was transported by the Parma Fire Department to Metro Hospital’s main campus for treatment.  Several days later Christopher died as a result of the injuries received that night.

Through investigative leads our detectives were able to identify the suspect that knocked Christopher to the ground as Mark J. Conley, age 20.  On January 10, 2019, the United States Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Conley in Garfield Heights.

During a subsequent interview with Conley, he did admit to his involvement in the fight.

On January 11, 2019, Conley appeared before Parma Municipal Court Judge Ken Spanagel.  He is currently facing one count of Involuntary Manslaughter and his bond was set at $250,000 cash/surety.

This incident is still under investigation.  Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Detective Joe Duganier at (440) 887-7337.
