(Akron, OH) -- Patients at Akron Children's Hospital are spending their Christmas Day with the memory of a truly unique visit from Santa Claus. The hospital held its tenth annual Flight before Christmas event Monday with special guest St. Nick making an appearance in the pediatric helicopter known as Air Bear.
Santa visited with children in the hospital lobby before heading upstairs to personally see nearly all of the 190-children currently staying at Akron Children's this holiday season.
The toys distributed this year came from 400 separately scheduled drop-offs and any left-over toys will be used throughout the year for children heading into surgery or trying to meet recovery goals.
