Westlake Police Blotter: December 21st

On Friday 12/7/18 at approx. 1240PM a complainant client at a Center Ridge Rd Hair Salon reported that her purse had been stolen when she was in the business.  The purse had contained cash and credit cards.  Employees noticed that 2 other women had been around the purse in the time frame that it went missing.  Interviews and review of surveillance video led to the identities of the 2 females.  Detectives caught up with the suspects and interviewed them on 12/19 at an Avon residence.  Probable cause for charges was established for both females and the purse was recovered.  A 37yo female from Wakeman was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property along with an outstanding warrant.  A 45yo female from Avon was left at the residence but will be charged with Theft of the purse.  A 31yo male was also interviewed at the residence, while he was not directly involved with the theft, he was arrested for an outstanding warrant from Brunswick PD along with a fraud want from Pennsylvania.  When asked, the 45yo said that she saw a nice purse and figured she could get a lot of money for Christmas.  She also admitted that she was a heroin user.

On 12/16/18 at approx. 12:15AM an officer stopped a vehicle on Center Ridge at Walter for an equipment violation.  The operator, a 36 year old from North Olmsted, admitted he did not have a valid license.  The passenger offered up that she had a license and would be happy to drive the vehicle from the scene.  When the officer checked her story, he learned that not only was she lying about who she was, the 23yo from Cleveland had an active warrant from Strongsville PD.  She was arrested for misidentification and the warrant and transported back to WPD jail. The operator was cited with driving under suspension and was given a court date to appear in Rocky River Muny Court.

On 12/17/18 WPD took a theft report from a resident on Fortune Tr.  The victim had “friends” over the home the night before.  The next day it was discovered that wrist watches valued at over $10,000 were missing.  Investigators are following up with the party goers.

On 12/17/18 at about 6:30PM WPD took a report from a citizen who reported that his Iphone was stolen while he was at Dave and Busters on Sat night 12/15.  The victim used his find my phone application and discovered it was located in Richmond Hts.  Richmond Hts PD located the phone in an apartment in their city.  Investigators are following up to determine if charges are warranted.

On 12/19 at about 1pm Ulta Beauty at Crocker Park reported a shoplifting.  The female suspect had already left the area but was described as being approx. 5’6” tall and 180 lbs.  She had several piercings on her face and around her mouth.  She had entered the store earlier and left without paying for over $550 worth of makeup.  The store is attempting to locate the video surveillance for investigators.

On 12/20/18 a resident on Tricia Dr reported that they had 5 different vehicles entered during the overnight hours.  The cars had been parked unlocked in the driveway and the theft was discovered the next morning.  Items missing included a wallet, credit cards, and headphones.  There are no known suspects at this time.

On 12/20/18 at approx. 9:50PM a resident of Bobby Lane returned home to her condo to find that it had been burglarized.  Officers could find no signs of forced entry but items were missing from inside.  An evidence technician and detectives processed the scene.
