Solon Police Blotter: December 20th

Solon - 

Theft, Market District:  December 13th 2:21 p.m.  Officers responded to a reported shoplifter at Market District, 34310 Aurora Road, who had been observed stuffing product in his jacket and when confronted had fled on foot.  The suspect was located near CVS and his jacket found along with some of the merchandise.  Terrance Mayberry, 50 of Erie, PA, is charged with Theft and held on bond.    

Assault, 33170 Aurora Road:  December 13th 2:52 p.m.  Officers responded to an altercation between two roommates.  Officers found that the 49 year old victim had been assaulted by his roommate who had used her shoe to strike him repeatedly.  Frances Sartorio, 47 of Solon, was arrested for Assault and taken to jail.

Theft, Dunkin Donuts:  December 14th 10:31 a.m.  A 24 year old Hudson woman reported that the previous day she had been to Dunkin Donuts, 6353 S.O.M. Center Road and had left her purse there.  When she realized she returned about an hour later and discovered the purse had been taken; included in the purse was $250-$300 in cash, credit card, driver license, and miscellaneous ID.  An attempt at obtaining video was unsuccessful because the new owner of the store had cancelled the video storage service.    

Burglary, Pettibone Road:  December 14th 3:11 p.m.   Residents of a Pettibone Road address reported returning to their home at 2:55 p.m. after having been gone since 9:30 a.m. to find that the house had been ransacked.  Items had been moved, damaged, and thrown around the home with cash taken.  The detective bureau was called to the home for processing and will be investigating the Burglary.

Domestic Violence, 32950 Aurora Road:  December 15th 12:59 a.m.  Officers were dispatched to an Aurora Road apartment for a female heard screaming and glass breaking.  Officers learned that the male and female occupants of the apartment, who have two children together, had been arguing and the male assaulted the female.  The 26 year old male was arrested for Domestic Violence for assaulting the 28 year old female.  He was taken to jail and held without bond pending arraignment.

OVI, SR 91:  December 15th 3:21 p.m.  Officers responded to an accident on SR 91 near Hanover Woods Trail; a southbound vehicle had traveled left of center into the northbound lane and partially on to the curb of the northbound lane before striking a northbound vehicle and pushing that vehicle into another northbound vehicle.  The driver of the vehicle who was left of center was found to be impaired and arrested.  Stefen Krieger, 63 of Twinsburg, was arrested and taken to jail where he submitted to a breath test with a result of .170.  He is charged with OVI, Prohibited BAC, Left of Center and, due to the injuries sustained by a passenger in one of the other vehicles, Aggravated Vehicular Assault.

OVI, SR 43:  December 15th 3:46 p.m.  Dispatch received a phone call from a motorist who observed a white van southbound of SR 91 from US 422 that was weaving and had almost struck the curb. Officers located the vehicle in question traveling southbound on Liberty Road driving left of center and weaving.  A stop was initiated and officers observed indications that the driver was impaired, which was confirmed by field sobriety tests.  James Nicholl, 54 of Solon, was arrested and taken to jail where he submitted to a breath test with a result of .211.  He is charged with OVI, Prohibited BAC, and Marked Lanes.

OVI, US 422:  December 16th 12:49 a.m.  Justin Lenz, 27 of Cleveland, was arrested following a traffic stop for drifting over the fog line repeatedly while traveling westbound on US 422.  A strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was noticed by the officer upon approaching the car, and the driver’s eyes were bloodshot.  Field sobriety tests indicated that he was impaired and Lenz was arrested and taken to jail where he submitted to a breath test with a result of .095.  He is charged with OVI, Prohibited BAC, and Marked Lanes.

Theft, Starbucks:  December 18th 12:37 p.m.  A 16 year old Solon girl was at Starbucks, 34182 Aurora Road, on December 10th when she believes she set the wallet down to put cream and sugar in her coffee and left without retrieving it.  On December 17th a credit card from her wallet was used to make unauthorized purchases on Amazon for a total of $141.46; her credit card has been cancelled and the reporting officer will investigate surveillance video from the store.
