Cleveland - Police are looking for a group of gunmen who carjacked an off-duty police officer working security at a school construction site in Slavic Village.
According to media sources, the officer, who works for the East Cleveland Police Department, was working near the intersection of East 75th and Canton Avenue Friday evening when the suspects tried to steal his 2016 Dodge Challenger.
That's when the officer drew his gun, and there was an exchange of gunfire.
The suspects fled in a dark-colored van, while one of them took the officer's vehicle.The officer was not hurt.
His car was recovered later, unoccupied.
