(SHELBY) A Richland County man brought a stolen backhoe bucket to Milliron Recycling in Shelby to sell, which isn't unusual. How the man brought the item to them was unusual.
Photos show a Chevy Cavalier dragging the bucket for five miles after police say the suspect, 51-year-old Kenneth Steagall, stole the bucket from the parking lot of the Mansfield Motor Group. The suspect initially denied the crime but, when showed the photos, he confessed.
Steagall entered a plea of not guilty to theft in Mansfield Municipal Court on Tuesday and was ordered a $10,000 personal recognizance bond, according to court records. He remains in the Richland County Jail.
