(Cuyahoga County) - Cleveland city service administrators say they are prepared to deal with wintery weather this season.

Director of public works Michael Cox says road crews will begin pre-treating roads and bridges before conditions turn icy.

They have 175 employees assigned to snow removal, and they are working three around the clock shifts.

Cox reports, his department has 20,000 tons of salt on hand with the ability to bring in much more. They also have 18,000 gallons of deicer, and 5,000 tons of brine.

The City is responsible for 54 primary and main streets, and many more residential roadways that are broken into 292 subsections.

Cox explains all snow plows are tracked electronically through their Operation Snowbird Command Center.
