Solon Police Blotter: November 15th

Solon - 

Assault, Solon Library:  November 7th 4:29 p.m.  Officers responded to the Solon branch of the Cuyahoga County library for a female juvenile arguing with staff and refusing to leave.  Officers arrived to find a group of juveniles leaving and a female who tipped over a decorative tree as she was leaving.  The juveniles were uncooperative and the female in question refused to identify herself.  Upon placing the juvenile in custody for Disorderly Conduct, she kicked and punched the officer, and continued to resist arrest.  The 15 year old Solon girl was taken into custody and transported to juvenile holding at the police department pending transfer to Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center.  

Theft, Briarwood Lane:  November 9th 8:49 a.m.  A manager from a home health care agency came to the police station to report that a former employee of her company had stolen $1000.00 from a Briarwood Lane resident who suffers from dementia.  The former employee convinced the client suffering from dementia to write her a check for $1000.00 on October 15th while filling in for the regular caregiver.  A warrant for Theft has been issued for Caitlin George, 24, of Garfield Heights.

OVI, Cannon Road:  November 9th 10:29 p.m.  Gloria Griffin, 55 of Warrensville Heights, was arrested after driving off of the north side of Cannon Road near 27355.  The vehicle struck a fire hydrant and came to rest on large landscape stones.  The officer noticed that there was an odor of alcohol while talking to Griffin, and also learned that she had a suspended driver’s license form an OVI in October.  Field sobriety tests also suggested impairment.  Griffin is charged with OVI, Driving under Suspension, and Failure to Control; she did not adequately provide a breath sample to determine blood alcohol content.   

Domestic Violence, Southside Park Drive:  November 10th 6:58 p.m.   Officers responded to a reported altercation between a 43 year old father and his 14 year old son.  Upon arrival they found the father holding his son on the kitchen floor.  When officers attempted to take custody of the 14 year old he began resisting.  According to the parents the 14 year old became upset when he wasn’t allowed to go to the movies, and the parents had taken his cell phone as punishment for having bad grades at school.  The boy threw items at his mother and tore his closet door off, then attacked his father, striking him with closed fists.  He then grabbed scissors and attempted to stab his father, and as they were struggling attempted to burn his father by turning on the gas stove.  The father was then able to wrestle him to the ground and hold him there until police arrived.  The boy was taken into custody and taken to juvenile holding and eventually transported to the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Facility. 

Receiving Stolen Property, Solon Road:  November 14th 6:12 a.m.  An officer observed a minivan traveling eastbound on Solon Road near 34300 entered as stolen through Cleveland PD.  The officer followed the van until he was able to obtain backup, and initiated a traffic stop on Solon Road near Maple Street in Chagrin Falls.  The driver, Vacecezil Allen 52 of Cleveland, was taken into custody and charged with felony Receiving Stolen Property and Driving under Suspension. 

Theft, BMW Cleveland:  November 14th 9:55 a.m.  A representative of BMW Cleveland locate at 6135 Kruse Drive in Solon came into the police station to report that on November 5th a male came to the dealership to purchase tires for his car.  The male issued a US Bank check for $581.93 and took the tires; the check was later returned because the bank could not locate the account.  The information on the check produced by the suspect, including a driver’s license number and phone number, were fictitious.  The detective bureau will investigate the theft. 

Domestic Violence, Flanders Drive:  November 6th 11:15 a.m.  A 39 year old female formerly of Solon came to the police department to report that on November 6th her husband held a pillow over her face 3 or 4 times, forcing her to struggle in order to breath.  He then stopped and stated that next time he would not let her go.  There have been numerous previous incidents of violence in the marriage, and after this she took their two children and left the home to an undisclosed location.  The 48 year old husband was arrested for Domestic Violence and taken to jail where he was held without bond pending arraignment.
