Two girls from Adair County High School in Columbia, Kentucky have been suspended for three days after they showed up to school on Halloween dressed as the Columbine High School shooters.
The girls didn't just show up in costume, they also decided to re-enact scenes from the horrific attack. The images were shared on social media and featured side-by-side comparisons of the two girls and actual photos from the shooting.
"We take the situation very seriously and our personnel are continuing to investigate the facts and circumstances surrounding this matter," Adair County Schools Superintendent Pamela Stephens said in a statement. "The students are currently suspended."
A father of one of the girls told LEX 18 that the two teens admitted they made a mistake. However, he believes that the school district overreacted. Not every parent agrees and many think the two girls and their parents should be punished.
"It's ridiculous. I think any child that does that should be expelled and any parents who [support] their child [doing that] should have charges brought against them,” Amy Tarter told WHAS.
Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold killed 12 students and one teacher before taking their own lives when they attacked Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado on April 20, 1999.
