A Cleveland cop is out of work

(Cleveland) - Director of Public Safety, Michael McGrath and Cleveland Police Chief Calvin D. Williams announced that Patrol Officer Robert Sweany was terminated from employment with the City of Cleveland, Division of Police effective Thursday, November 1, 2018.

Sweany was convicted of OVI and having weapons while intoxicated following a December 20, 2017 arrest by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Administrators say, he was found to have violated the terms of a “Last Chance Agreement” he had entered into due to prior disciplinary matters.

As the adjudication process relative to this case is now complete, the Department of Public Safety, Division of Police has moved forward with the disciplinary process, and Director of Public Safety Michael McGrath made his ruling following a disciplinary hearing which was held on September 21, 2018.
