Convicted felon sentenced in fentanyl death

(Cleveland) - A convicted felon is sentenced to 12 years in prison for selling fentanyl that resulted in the fatal overdose of a Medina County man last year.

Forty year old Rafael Jones pleaded guilty to selling fentanyl to a Brunswick man in May of 2017. He ingested the drug and died. Cleveland police arrested Jones a month later.

Officer say Jones was packing a 9mm semiautomatic handgun and ammo, even though he was previously convicted of domestic violence and heroin trafficking.

This case was investigated by the Medina County Drug Task Force, DEA, Brunswick Police Department and with the assistance of the Medina County Coroner’s Office.
