(Houston, TX) -- The Houston Astros' pitching was spectacular once again in game 2 of the ALDS. Gerrit Cole held the powerful tribe lineup in check, striking out 12 batters and walking none, while giving up one run on three hits.
Marwin Gonzales continues to be reliable for this Astros ballclub. Gonzales batted 4 for 4, including a go-ahead, two-run double in the bottom of the 6th. Alex Bregman's postseason success continued today as he hit a home run for the second straight day.
Carlos Carrasco put together a solid outing for the tribe, throwing 5 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on six hits. Andrew Miller came in to relieve Carlos Carrasco during the bottom of the 6th inning. Miller gave up an RBI double off of the bat of Marwin Gonzales to give the Astros the lead. Trevor Bauer came out of the bullpen with the bases loaded and one out, and was able to get back to back batters out to limit the Astros' damage. Francisco Lindor was the only bright spot in the Indians lineup, launching a solo home run off of Gerrit Cole in the top of the 3rd.
The Cleveland Indians and Houston Astros will square off for Game 3 of the ALDS on Monday, October 8th. First pitch is set for 1:30 at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio.
