(Cleveland) - A mural is being painted on the tower at the Garrett Morgan Water Treatment Plant along the Shoreway near West 45th Street.
Spanish artist Sam3 is creating a painting called "Walking on Water". The Cleveland Water Department is working with LAND Studio, and the artist to transform the 94 foot tall tank, which for years had “City of Cleveland Est. 1796” written across it.
Sam is also being assisted by local artist Alan Giberson. Anastos Makripodis and his crew with D&M Painting performed the initial prep work by painting of several base layers: a gray primer coat, a white mid coat and a blue top coat. The blue color serves as the base for the mural.
The process of transforming the tank into a mural has been ongoing for more than a year.
