Rocky River - Below are items of interest from the Rocky River Police Department from Tuesday, 09/04/2018 through Monday, 09/10/2018.
- On 09/04/2018 at about 6:00 PM Giant Eagle security agents observed a woman leave the store without paying for several items. During a brief struggle, she dropped the stolen items and her purse before leaving the area by car. From the license plates provided by witnesses and items in the purse left behind, police were able to identify Mary Tirone Frances, a 61-year-old Strongsville woman, as the culprit. A warrant for theft was obtained for her arrest.
- On 09/08/2018 at about 12:30 AM police stopped a car on Detroit Rd. at Wooster Rd. because the driver had a suspended driver's license. During the stop, the officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage and burnt marijuana. After field tests, Ricky D. Shelton, a 25-year-old Cleveland man, was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence, driving under suspension, and possession of marijuana. His passenger was wanted by Lakewood Police and turned over to them at the scene.
- On 09/10/2018 at about 6:45 PM police responded to an Addington Blvd. home after the homeowner reported a possible attempted burglary. Police found damage to a screen and an indentation on a gutter above the window, but no indentations in the grass or mulch to indicate a ladder was propped. The resident reported the window was locked and there was no damage to the window or entry to the home. No entry was gained.
- On 09/10/2018 at about 9:00 PM police responded to the area of Lakeview Rd. near Hilliard Blvd. after getting a call that a man fell, hit his head, and was unconscious. Officers learned that the man was helping a friend move and slipped in the moving truck, hitting his head when he landed. The man regained consciousness while police and paramedics were present and refused medical treatment or transport to hospital.
