Serial Bank Robber Caught

Cleveland - The man reportedly responsible for a rash of bank robberies in the Cleveland-area is now behind bars.

59-year-old Anthony Jones was arrested Saturday at approximately 3:00p.m. after robbing the Woodforest Bank located inside the Walmart at 3400 Steelyard Drive. An off duty sheriff's deputy observed what appeared to be a robbery and chased Jones.

When he was caught, Jones first provided a false name. He was later confirmed as the serial bank robber. 

Jones was taken into custody by Cleveland Police Department officers and later interviewed by Special Agents with the Cleveland Division of the FBI.

Jones is believed to be responsible for 5 bank robberies and 1 attempted robbery. Federal charges are anticipated and will be announced once filed.
