New Athletic Director Named At Strongsville High

Strongsville - At Thursday evenings Strongsville Board of Education meeting, Dennis Ziegler was approved as the new Athletic Director for Strongsville High School.

Ziegler will begin his role with the District on January 2nd, 2019. In addition, Raymond Ebersole was also approved as the Interim Athletic Director during the Board Meeting. Ebersole will manage Strongsville High School’s Athletic Department through the end of this calendar year.

Ebersole most recently spent 14 years as the Athletic Director for Hudson City Schools before retiring. His passion for high school sports brought him back for this interim role. “I want to assist Strongsville High School in making their transition to a new Athletic Director as seamless as possible. I look forward to calling upon my experience to help support Strongsville’s athletics program for the next couple of months and make sure Mr. Ziegler has everything necessary to lead the program moving forward in January,” said Ebersole.

Ziegler is the current Athletic Director at East High School in the West Bend School District in Wisconsin. Prior to this role, he served for two and a half years as the Athletic Director for the Wellington School District. He has held both coaching and athletic director positions in college and high school athletics since 2008. Ziegler has an undergraduate degree from Otterbein University and a Master’s degree from Marietta College. He also earned his Certified Athletic Administrator degree from the University of Maine.

“Strongsville High School has a rich history of talented student-athletes and coaches, along with successful programs and competitive teams in our conference. Having grown up in Strongsville, I share the community’s passion for high school athletics. My primary goal for Mustangs athletics is to empower an environment where people can thrive as individuals and as a team. I want to build leaders not only in athletics, but leaders in the classroom and in life. I am looking forward to continuing to build that positive connection between our student-athletes and community youth programs,” said Ziegler.

“We are very happy to have Mr. Ebersole as our interim Athletic Director. He brings a wealth of experience and will be vital to the success of our fall athletic season and the beginning of the winter athletic season. We are also excited to welcome Mr. Ziegler to the Mustangs family. His enthusiasm and passion for the development of our teams and our student-athletes was evident throughout the interview process. We look forward to the experience he brings to continue to elevate and grow our athletic program,” said Dr. Mark Smithberger, Strongsville High School Principal.
