(Toronto, Ontario) -- Francisco Lindor finished with two home runs as the Indians crushed the Blue Jays 9-4 in Toronto. Lindor had a pair of solo shots and notched the go-ahead two-run single in the fifth inning. Jason Kipnis tacked on a three-run homer for Cleveland. Shane Bieber pitched into the seventh and struck out six to get the win.
Teoscar Hernandez laced a two-run double for the Blue Jays, who did all their damage in the fourth inning. Sam Gaviglio gave up five runs in less than five frames to take the loss.
The Indians win brings their Magic Number to clinch the Central Division title down to 7; the second-place Twins were off on Thursday. Any combination of seven Indians wins and Twins losses will allow the Tribe to clinch.
Game two of the series in Toronto is Friday night at 7:07 on WTAM 1100 AM and 106.9 FM, along with 100.7 WMMS. Carlos Carrasco starts for the Tribe, and marco Estrada for the Blue Jays.
