(COLUMBUS) Ohio State Football Coach Urban Meyer has released a lengthy statement via Twitter about his recent suspension. It comes in the wake of an Ohio State Board of Trustees member resigning and former wide receivers coach at the center of domestic abuse allegations denying any wrongdoing.
Thursday, Ohio State Board of Trustees member Jeffrey Wadsworth resigned from the board, saying he thought Ohio State should have made Meyer's punishment more "profound," according to the New York Times.. Meyer was suspended for the first three games of the 2018 season. The Board had voted 19-1 to suspend and not fire Meyer on August 22nd.
Meanwhile, former wide receivers coach Zach Smith, at the center of the controversy, maintained the abuse allegations are false in an interview with USA Today.
