Solon Police Blotter: August 24th to August 30th

Solon -

Theft, Marc’s:  August 21st 5:49 p.m.  A 50 year old Chagrin Falls resident reported that while shopping at Marc’s, 62331 S.O.M. Center Road, someone stole her wallet from her purse and subsequently used her debit card to make unauthorized purchases at the Bainbridge Walmart store totaling $1485.62.  She believes that a female, who had initiated conversation with her while shopping, removed her wallet from her purse while she was reaching for items on a shelf. The detective bureau will follow up.

Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, Solon Motel:  August 24th 9:36 p.m.  Officers responded to a reported disturbance between two females at the Solon Motel, 32575 Aurora Road.  When they reached the room a male opened the door, and they immediately noticed a strong odor of marijuana.  The male was highly intoxicated and it was learned after identifying him that there were several warrants for his arrest.  There was also a female and another male in the room; all three denied that there was a second female present.  The warrants for the male Paul Evans, 41 of Bainbridge, were confirmed but the issuing agencies could not pick him up and he was released on scene.  The female was found to be a 15 year old juvenile entered as missing from Cleveland; this was confirmed and arrangements were made for transport to Cuyahoga County Family and Children Services.  The other male Darryl Hampton, 36 of Cleveland, was the renter of the room and had been keeping the female there for approximately two weeks.  There was beer and remnants of marijuana in the room, and witnesses indicate that Hampton had taken the female to the Crossroads bar on more than one occasion and purchased beer for her.  Hampton was arrested and charged with Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor while the detective bureau continues to investigate.

Theft, Walgreens:  August 25th 12:25 p.m.  Officers were alerted by Bainbridge Police about a shoplifting which had occurred at the Bainbridge Walmart.  The suspect vehicle described was located at Walgreen’s, 6270 S.O.M. Center Road, with a male standing outside of it.  Nearby a female was seen walking away through the woody area behind the store who fit the description of one of the suspects, and a male was talking on the phone next to a car fitting the description of the other male suspect.  All were apprehended and found to have shoplifted $202.86 in merchandise from Walgreen’s.  Nichole Leonard, 47 of Shaker Heights, was charged with Theft; Timothy Steele, 45 of Cleveland, was charged with Theft and Obstructing Official Business.  John Turner, 54 of Maple Heights, was charged with Complicity; all will be held for Bainbridge Police.

OVI, Harper Road:  August 27th 12:44 a.m.  Marion Randle, 39 of Solon, was arrested following a traffic stop for having plates to another vehicle.  The officer observed an odor of alcohol and noticed that the driver’s eyes were bloodshot and watery, and he had slurred speech.  Field sobriety tests confirmed impairment and he was arrested and taken to jail where he refused to submit to a breath test.  Randle is charged with OVI, Plates to Another Vehicle, and Illegal Turn at an Intersection.
