Zoo hosts benefit run to help needy children

Cleveland -  Christmas may be four months away, but it's never too early to raise funds to buy needy children some Christmas cheer.

That's why Child and Family Advocates of Cuyahoga County, formerly the Guardian ad Litem (G.A.L.) Project, is holding the organization's  annual GALlop for Kids at the Cleveland MetroParks Zoo on Sunday.

Guardians ad litem  are specialized attorneys who represent and help children and families in juvenile court cases involving abuse or neglect.

Their job is to help judges determine what is in every child's best interest.

Many of these children are in foster care, and all are in need of a little extra holiday cheer.

That's why the attorneys host a benefit run each year, so they can raise funds to buy gifts for the youngsters they're dedicated to helping.

Sign-up for the 5K race begins at 7:00AM.

The race starts at 9:00AM, and there's a one-mile fun run for kids.

You can also sign up online.
