CLEVELAND - There will be no prison time for a former Bedford principal who had sex with a student.
Courtney Alfred was sentenced yesterday to two years of probation for sexual battery. Alfred pleaded guilty last month to having relations with a 17-year-old student at the Education Alternatives school.
She faced nine counts of felony sexual battery for the encounters during the 2016-17 school year.
Court records say the student went to Bedford Police on March 19th with text messages, as well as cellphone video of an encounter, and said that Alfred had had sex with him in the school.
Detectives arrested Alfred later that month after obtaining a search warrant and confirming she had a matching tattoo as seen in the phone video. The 38-year-old was placed on administrative leave by Education Alternatives, a non-profit organization for at-risk youth, following her arrest.
