CLEVELAND - Just days after a fatal accident, with a similar scooter, Bird Scooters has announced they are "voluntarily pausing" operations in downtown Cleveland.
The move comes less than a day after Cleveland State University issued a ban on all electric scooters from their campus.
The city sent Bird a letter earlier this month asking them to remove their rental scooters because the company didn’t obtain permits to place property on city sidewalks.
The company says they've submitted the necessary paperwork, reaching out to local officials and that they look forward to working with Cleveland to develop a framework that permits their affordable and convenient transportation option."
