(Cleveland, OH) -- Mitch Garver drilled a three-run homer in the second inning and the Twins held off the Indians 3-2 in Cleveland. Adalberto Mejia allowed just one hit in five scoreless innings for the win.
Fernando Rodney posted his 25th save of the season for Minnesota.
Francisco Lindor broke up the shutout for with a solo shot in a two-run eighth to get Cleveland close. Carlos Carrasco surrendered 10 hits and three runs in six-and-a-third frames to take the loss.
The Indians had their three-game winning streak snapped. The Tribe still leads the Twins by nine games in the AL Central.
The four-game series with the Twins continues Wednesday night at Progressive Field. Mike Clevinger starts for the Indians, Jake Odorizzi for Minnesota. First pitch at 7 :10 on WTAM 1100 and 100.7 WMMS.
