(Cleveland, OH) -- Corey Kluber could not be stopped tonight, as he appears to have gotten out of his three game slump. The reigning Cy Young winner threw a complete game shutout against the Angels of Anaheim, giving up only three hits.
Tonight's performance from Kluber provided a sigh of relief for Indians fans, after Kluber had lost two of his previous three starts. Kluber seemed to get better as the game went on, and had his command working tonight, striking out seven batters and walking just one.
Angels' starter Felix Pena was trading scoreless innings with Corey Kluber, and had a no-hitter going into the 6th inning. The first hit given up by Pena was a 415 foot blast off of the bat of Leonys Martin, who has now hit two homeruns in his first two games since joining the tribe. Brantley tacked on another run in the 6th inning on an RBI single to centerfield, scoring Francisco Lindor.
Corey Kluber earns his 14th win of the season against the Angels, Felix Pena takes the loss as he moves to 1-3 on the season. The rubber match of this three game series will be on Sunday afternoon, first pitch set for 1:10 pm at beautiful Progressive Field.
