Rescue Village Holds Dog Friendly 5K

Russell Township - On Sunday, August 5, Rescue Village will welcome hundreds of runners and their dogs to Orchard Hills Park in Chesterland for their third annual Wet Nose 5K.

The run will kick off at 8:00 AM on Sunday and all proceeds raised will benefit the homeless animals of Rescue Village. Pre-registration pricing for the run is $20 and day of registration will be $25. Runners can still register online at https://www.greaterclevelandxc.com/wetnose or on the day of the race in person beginning at 7:00 AM.

This year at the Wet Nose 5K, there will be a special mile marker paying tribute to a young volunteer who recently passed away. Abby Bendis regularly volunteered at Rescue Village by being a counselor at children’s summer camps as well as in our cat department. Rescue Village will be selling special lime green ribbons (her favorite color) before the race for $1 and at a designated mile marker, volunteers will blow bubbles in her honor for every runner who is wearing a ribbon. The proceeds from the lime green ribbons will be donated to Rescue Village specifically in Abby’s name.

There is already a major increase in registered runners this year than there was last year and Rescue Village expects there to be several walk ups on Sunday as well.
