Pirates Roll Past the Indians 9-4

Shane Bieber got hit early and often tonight, as Marte got things started with a 2-run Homerun in the first inning. Pittsburgh bats stayed hot as they poured on another 5 runs in the second inning to jump out to a quick 7-1 lead, thanks to a homerun from Marte, and an RBI triple off of the bat of Corey Dickerson.

The Pirates routed the tribe for the second consecutive night. Pittsburgh has now won eleven straight games for the first time since 1996, as they continue to be one of the hottest teams in baseball. The Indians have now dropped 3 games in a row.

Tribe designated hitter Edwin Encarnacion returned to the lineup tonight after missing the previous two games due to a bruised right hand. Encarnacion crushed a solo shot to left field in the fourth inning. Brandon Guyer also added a solo homerun in the eighth.

The series continues on Wednesday at 1:10 pm as the Indians try to muster a win in the third and final game of the series.
