A Greater Clevelander spreads kindness & comfort

Bob Votruba

(Twinsburg) - A northeast Ohioan is trying to spread "kindness" from coast-to-coast. Bob Votruba has been biking and busing his way across America with his dog Bogart urging to people to kind to one another.

Votruba says it all begin when he visited Virginia Tech right after the 2007 massacre there, and decided to dedicate his life to comforting the hurting.

He has now biked 25,000 miles, using a converted school bus as his base. He is in the city of Twinsburg through Friday, but is also speaking to the Avon Lake Kiwanis Club Thursday night.

Votruba tells Newsradio WTAM 1100 that he's reaching out to children and adults who have been victimized, abused, and bullied to offer them comfort through conversation.

His message to everyone is to offer kindness, compassion and respect to others. Votruba started his mission at the age of 52, and created the One Million Acts of Kindness Foundation.

He is now 63 and plans to continue his work because he enjoys seeing the positive effect it has on people.
