CLEVELAND - A veteran Cleveland Police officer is still in the hospital after collapsing due to heat exhaustion.
Police say 20-year veteran of the Cleveland Division of Police, patrol officer Vu Nguyen collapsed while training drug-sniffing dogs on Monday.
He was being treated at MetroHealth hospital where he has been listed in critical condition.
In a statement Friday afternoon, Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia says, Nguyen remains on life support and has been transferred to the Cleveland Clinic, and the family is requesting privacy during this difficult time.
Officer Nguyen achieved recognition in 2015 when he helped save the life of an infant girl who was suffering a seizure.
