KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Cody Allen secures his 140th career save, becoming the Cleveland Indians all time leader in saves, as the Indians finish off a three game sweep of the struggling Kansas City Royals 3-2.
The Indians got off to a fast start tonight as they took an early 2-0 lead thanks to an RBI double off of the bat of Michael Brantley, followed by a sacrifice fly by Encarnacion. The tribe never looked back as they held the lead for the rest of the game. Trevor Bauer pitched efficiently into the eighth inning, striking out eight batters on his way to his eighth victory of the season.
Indians will head home for the start of their ten game home stand. Carlos Carrasco (8-5, 4.24 ERA) will be taking on Oakland right hander Paul Blackburn (2-2, 6.46 ERA) on Friday July 6th, 7:10 first pitch.
