Early AM basketball, fireworks end in shooting

Cleveland - Homicide detectives are investigating a Fourth of July shooting that left one man dead and another with multiple gunshot wounds.

It happened just before 3:00AM in the 4200 block of East 128th Street.

Officers found a 26-year-old man in the front yard of the home with a gunshot wound to the head.

He died at the scene.

Officers say the second victim, identified as 20-year-old Tavon Berkley, had multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to University Hospitals.

Police say they learned that there was a large crowd of people playing basketball in the street, and shooting off fireworks, when the gunfire erupted and the two men were struck.

Homicide detectives are still investigating.
