Man Dead after hit on I-90

(Avon) – The Elyria Post of the State Patrol was notified by the Avon Police Department at approximately 2:07PM of an incident involving a pedestrian and a commercial motor vehicle.  The incident took place in the eastbound travel lanes of Interstate 90, approximately .6 miles east of mile post 150 in the City of Avon.  The pedestrian was identified as Douglas Clarke, age 58 of North Ridgeville, Ohio.  The driver of the commercial vehicle was identified as Eric Morse, age 42 of Norfolk, New York.  According to witnesses, Clark was viewed outside of his vehicle prior to entering the marked travel lanes of Interstate 90 and was struck by the semi-truck.  Clark was transported by the Avon Fire Department to University Hospital in Avon and sustained fatal injuries as a result of the incident. 

Interstate 90 Eastbound was closed for approximately 2.5 hours.  The incident remains under investigation at this time. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Avon Police Department, the Avon Fire Department, The Sheffield Village Police Department, and the Ohio Department of Transportation.
