(Sheffield Lake) – A police standoff ended after more than 14 hours, when a man gave up early Friday morning, but not before a SWAT officer had been shot and wounded.
Sheffield Lake Police, US Marshals, and the Lorain County SWAT team were all called out to a house on Ferndale Avenue in Sheffield Lake, as problems ensued Thursday morning in attempts to serve an arrest warrant on a man there.
During the standoff, shots were fired, and a SWAT officer was wounded. He is recovering at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.
The man holed up in the house gave up about 12:30 a.m. on Friday. There’s no word on his condition.
