CLEVELAND — The Board of Trustees at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) today approved an increase in tuition and fees, raising the cost by $10 per credit hour beginning with fall semester.
The new cost per credit hour — $114.54 for Cuyahoga County residents — will be lowest in Ohio for the upcoming academic year. The College adopted a smaller tuition increase than allowed by the state.
“Our commitment centers on offering the community an affordable option for higher education,” said Victor Ruiz, chairman of the Board of Trustees. “Nowhere else in Ohio will someone find a tuition rate that makes college as accessible as it is at Tri-C.”
The change in cost per credit hour includes the implementation of a career services fee in the amount of $2.50 per credit hour. The fee will go toward programs that aid students in finding jobs after graduation.
The combined adjustments will cost the typical Tri-C student approximately $90 per semester. That money will go toward expanding student support initiatives that have helped lift the College’s graduation rate to record highs.
This is Tri-C’s first tuition modification since 2014.
The new tuition rate will go into effect Monday, July 2nd. Students who register for fall semester by 11:59 p.m. Sunday, July 1st, will pay the current rate of $104.54 per credit hour.
The College provides students multiple options to lower academic costs while working toward degrees and certificates, including programs such as 15+ Perks, the 30 Credit Hour Standard and the Tuition Guarantee.
“We have programs in place to prevent finances from being a barrier to degree attainment,” said Alex Johnson, Tri-C’s president. “Our goal is to keep college affordable, as student success begins with access.”
