Indians Blank Cubs Behind Plutko

By Jon Durr

(Chicago, IL)  --  The Indians finished off a two-game sweep of the Cubs with a 1-0 shutout at Wrigley Field.  Adam Plutko took a no-hitter into the seventh inning before giving up two hits.

Plutko is 2-and-0 and Cody Allen got four outs for his seventh save.

Michael Brantley's RBI single in the third inning was the only offense Cleveland would need.  The Indians are 24-and-23.

Chicago left six men on base and was 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position.  Jon Lester allowed the single run across seven innings to slip to 4-and-2.  The Cubs dropped to 25-and-21.

The Indians return to Progressive Field for a seven-game home stand, starting Thursday night with the first of four against the Houston Astros.  Mike Clevinger starts for the Tribe and Charlie Morton for the 'stros.  First pitch Thursday night at 6:10 p.m.  Hear the game on WTAM 1100 and 100.7 WMMS.
