Greater Cleveland gas prices remain high

Downtown Cleveland

(Cleveland) - AAA Ohio reports that gasoline prices are likely to remain high through the Memorial Day weekend.

Triple-A's Jim Garrity says the average cost in the buckeye state is $2.89 a gallon, which is a bit lower than the national average which is $2.93, but both are much higher than they were at this time last year.

Garrity contends that the price has not increased enough to cause Ohioans to cancel or scale down their motoring plans. He predicts that most will cut back spending in other areas to make up the difference.

This week’s average prices:

Northeast Ohio Average $2.817

Average price during the week of May 14, 2018  - $2.824

Average price during the week of May 22, 2017   - $2.308
