Rocky River Police Blotter: Stolen Steaks

Below are items of interest from the Rocky River Police Department from 05/08/2018 through 05/14/2018.

  • On 05/08/2018 at about 11:35 PM a Nantucket Row resident reported someone was at her front door, ringing the doorbell, and walking to the back of the house. Police arrived and located the man, who was identified as the caller's son who had came home from Florida for a surprise birthday visit. The resident confirmed the man was her son and scolded him for scaring her before welcoming him inside.
  • On 05/10/2018 at about 2:10 AM a caller reported that the driver of a white pick-up truck was asleep at the wheel while the truck is still in the roadway. Police arrived and were able to wake the driver, who was then given field sobriety tests. Terrance Costello, 29-years-old from Cleveland was arrested for drunk driving. 
  • On 05/10/2018 at about 3;45 PM a police officer was flagged down by Giant Eagle security and informed of a theft offense. The security officer out a man walking in the parking lot and reported that he had just stolen several packages of steak. The officer detained the man and a short investigation revealed that the suspect had selected, concealed, and left the store without paying for over $90.00 worth of steak.James M. Rowe, a 27-years-old from Cleveland, was arrested for theft. 
  • On 05/11/2018 at about 10:50 PM police responded to Interstate-90 east bound after a report of a car fire. A car transport tractor-trailer carrying nine cars was on fire. The Interstate was closed down while firefighters from Rocky River and Westlake extinguished the fire, but not before several of the vehicles being transported were heavily damaged. The truck driver, a 42-year-old from Naples, Florida, was not injured. 
  • On 05/12/2018 at about 3:20 PM police responded to Giant Eagle on Center Ridge Rd. after a report of a shoplifter in custody. Tracey Harris, 49-years-old from Fairview Park, was arrested after she was observed by store security selecting, concealing, and leaving the store without paying for over $179 worth of merchandise. 2018-00843 Incident & Booking are attached.
  • On 05/12/2018 at about 10:10 PM it was reported that a vehicle crashed into the front of Pelicano's Pizza at 2218 Wooster Rd. Police located a vehicle with front end damage a few blocks away. The owner was field tested and Patrick Gibbons, 64-years-old from Rocky River, was arrested for drunk driving and leaving the scene of an accident. No one was injured. 
  • On 05/14/2018 at about 3:20 PM Westlake Police requested neighboring agencies look for a blue Chevy Pick-up truck that fled the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Detroit near Clague Rd. Meanwhile, a Rocky River Police Officer was investigating a separate motor vehicle accident on Detroit Rd. at Westway when the truck wanted by Westlake Police collided with his police cruiser. The driver, Barney Barnett, a 41-year-old homeless man, was arrested for drunk driving.
