RTA Receives Gold Award For Safety

Cleveland - The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) today was presented with the Gold Award for Bus Safety from the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) at its annual APTA Bus and Para-transit Conference in Tampa, Florida.

“These award-winning teams are truly the best of the best at improving safety and security for their employees, passengers, and the public,” said APTA President and CEO Paul P. Skoutelas. “They represent the thousands of public transit professionals nationwide whose daily work results in preventing injuries and making daily commutes safer and more reliable.”

“We’re proud that RTA’s transit professionals have achieved another milestone,” said RTA CEO and General Manager Joe Calabrese.

“We’ve worked as a team to achieve this outstanding honor, and I couldn’t be more proud,” he said.

“We’re consistently seeing improvements in safety, and every month we’re meeting and exceeding team goals, including the reduction of on-the-job injuries and preventable collisions. It’s a very positive trend, and our customers are well-served when we achieve such outstanding safety standards,” Calabrese said.
